Services - e-Cash Download & Settlement
The following applications are provided for using the
e-Smart card.
The above applications can be done either in
connected mode
or in unconnected mode. All these applications are
implemented with 3DES security.
Connected mode
In the connected mode a smart card reader ACR 30S is
connected to the PC either to a serial port or USB. Data
will be interchanged between the smart card reader and the
server without intervention of the user.
Unconnected mode
In the unconnected mode Datanet's smart card reader eCom
Pocket is used. Data will be interchanged between the PC and
the smart card reader by manually entering them to the PC
and eCom Pocket reader.
For downloading e-Cash, the customer should have money in
his virtual account in the server while for downloading food
voucher money should be available in the customer's food
voucher account in the server.
Download e-Cash
The entered amount is debited to the virtual account of the
customer in the server and an equal amount is credited to
e-Cash purse in the smart card.
Download Food Voucher
The entered amount is debited to the Food Voucher account of
the customer in the server and an equal amount is credited
to the Food Voucher purse in the smart card.
Merchant Settlement
The amount in e-Cash and food voucher purses of an e-Smart
card can be used to make payments for purchases in a
merchant establishment. A POS terminal, used for this
purpose debits the required amount to the e-Smart card purse
and credits an equal amount to the merchant's SAM card.
Periodically the amount in the SAM card can be transferred
to a Transfer card. The transaction records created during
the transfer are uploaded to the server over Internet. After
verification of the records, the merchant will be given
credit of the transferred amount.
Security
All the transactions done using an e-Smart card are totally
secure due to the following reasons.
Protection: Smart cards provide tamper-resistant storage for
private keys and other data. If a smart card is lost or
stolen, it is difficult for anyone except the intended user
to use the credentials that it stores.
Isolation: 3DES Cryptographic operations are performed on
the smart card itself rather than on the client or on a
network server. This isolates security-sensitive data and
processes from other parts of the system.
